How do I buy on 99WAVES?
You select an item and click on „Buy with obligation to pay” By doing so, you are submitting a binding purchase offer. The purchase agreement is concluded as soon as the seller confirms your offer (at the latest upon shipment of the item). Your payment will be held securely in escrow until then.
99WAVES acts as an intermediary and is not a party to the contract – the purchase agreement is made directly between you and the seller.
Which payment methods can I use?
All payments are processed securely through our payment service provider. Stripe – for example, by credit card, SEPA direct debit, instant bank transfer, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Available methods may vary depending on the country.
99WAVES does not store your payment information; processing is handled securely and in compliance with PCI-DSS regulations by Stripe. Payments made outside the platform are not permitted and will result in the loss of buyer protection.
What is buyer protection and how much does it cost?
Buyer protection is a paid protection program offered by 99WAVES. It applies to purchases from automatically included in every purchase from private and unverified sellers and amounts 10 % of the purchase price. The amount will be clearly displayed to you before purchase – in the shopping cart and at checkout.
When purchasing verified dealers No buyer protection fee is charged – your statutory buyer rights (right of withdrawal and warranty) apply instead. Buyer protection is not insurance and does not replace your statutory rights against the seller.
When does buyer protection apply?
Buyer protection applies if
- the item is not delivered within 30 days and the seller also fails to deliver within a reasonable grace period,
- the item is demonstrably lost or destroyed in transit, or
- the delivered item differs significantly from the description – for example, wrong model, wrong size, undisclosed significant defects, missing essential components, or a counterfeit.
Minor signs of wear described in the advertisement are not a buyer protection case.
What is not covered by buyer protection?
The following are specifically not covered:
- Features or visible damage indicated in the advertisement (e.g. „for hobbyists” or „for spare parts”),
- a payment outside the platform,
- Items that were picked up in person (self-pickup),
- Items that you have altered, repaired, or given away to a third party after receiving them,
- a missed complaint deadline (48 hours after delivery) or an incorrectly specified delivery address.
How do I file a complaint or a buyer protection claim?
Report the incident within 48 hours of delivery Submit your complaint via the platform's complaint form and substantiate it with meaningful photos and a short written description.
If you miss this deadline, the delivery is considered confirmed and buyer protection ends – your statutory warranty rights against the seller remain unaffected. We review every report promptly and keep you updated on the status.
What happens in a justified buyer protection case?
If the claim is justified, 99WAVES will refund the purchase price including shipping costs. 99WAVES will provide you with a return label for any returns; the return shipping costs are borne by the party responsible for the defect.
Do I need to confirm receipt of the item?
Yes. After delivery, you will be asked to confirm receipt in your account – it's best to check the item carefully beforehand.
Once you confirm, the seller will be paid. If you don't confirm, the payment will be processed. automatically 48 hours after delivery. You can extend this deadline once by 48 hours. If a complaint is pending, the deadline is suspended for that duration.
Do I have a right of withdrawal?
A 14-day statutory right of withdrawal only applies to purchases of commercial sellers (dealers). There is no statutory right of withdrawal for purchases from private sellers – buyer protection applies here in the case of private and not yet verified sellers.
What do the condition descriptions of the items mean?
Each item is classified into one of seven conditions: New, Like New, Very Good, Good, Used, Heavily Used and Defect. This is how you buy and sell using a consistent, honest language.

Listing, fees, payout & shipping
How do I list my equipment?
You create an account and list your item. Describe it. completely and truthfully – including make, model, size, year of manufacture, accessories, and any known defects or repairs. Load at least three meaningful photos The prices shown reflect the true condition. The price quoted is the final price.
How much does it cost to sell?
The Posting ads is free for private sellers.. A sales commission is only charged if you successfully make a sale – it amounts to 10 % of the purchase price and will be automatically deducted before payment.
Private sellers are commission-free for the first 3 months. You can see the exact details during registration.
When and how will I be paid?
Your money will be held in escrow by Stripe after the purchase. Once the buyer confirms receipt, the payment will be released immediately. If the buyer does not confirm, payment will be made automatically 48 hours after delivery. This applies equally to private and commercial sellers.
Payments are made via Stripe (Stripe Connect) to your registered bank account. If a dispute is pending, the payment will be suspended until the matter is resolved.
How does shipping work for me as a seller?
After completing your purchase, 99WAVES will set you up prepared shipping label Ready – automatically for standard packages, and through our team for bulky items (e.g., boards). You print the label, pack the item securely for shipping, and hand it over. The tracking information is automatically shared with the buyer – you don't need to enter a tracking number manually.
Please ensure the item is ready for shipping within 5 business days of purchase. If the buyer lives nearby, local pickup is also possible – payment will still be processed through the platform.
Do I need to confirm an order?
Yes. Confirm the purchase offer within 24 hours – explicitly via the platform or at the latest upon shipment. If you do not confirm, the offer is considered rejected and the buyer's payment will be refunded.
As a private seller, am I liable for defects?
As a private seller, you can generally exclude liability for material defects. However, this does not apply. not, This applies if you fraudulently conceal a defect, offer a guarantee, or if the issue involves damage to life, body, or health. Your specific description of the item also remains crucial – therefore, describe it honestly and completely.

How do I sell as a commercial retailer?
Commercial sellers identify themselves as such during registration and provide their legally required information (company name, address, authorized representatives, registration details, and, if applicable, VAT ID number). Before your first payment, you – like all users – will undergo an identity and due diligence check (KYC) by the payment service provider.

Does buyer protection also apply to my sales?
At verified dealers No buyer protection fee will be charged – your buyers are instead covered by statutory consumer rights (right of withdrawal and warranty). As long as your merchant account is not yet verified, buyer protection is automatically included in your sales.
What obligations do I have towards consumers?
Sales to consumers are subject to statutory consumer rights: one 14-day right of withdrawal as well as the legal Warranty (For used goods, the limitation period can be reduced to at least one year under the statutory conditions). As the seller, you are responsible for providing the proper cancellation policy and mandatory information; 99WAVES offers technical tools for this purpose.
Can I have orders automatically confirmed?
Yes. Verified commercial sellers can automatic order confirmation Activate. The buyer's offer is then considered accepted upon receipt of the order – the 24-hour confirmation period does not apply in this case.
What commission does the retailer have to pay?
In the event of a successful sale, the seller's commission is generally 10% of the purchase price. Different terms may apply to commercial sellers by separate agreement. Just ask us about it.

What is 99WAVES?
99WAVES is an online marketplace for used (and, in exceptional cases, like-new) equipment for Wing foiling, kite surfing and windsurfing Including accessories – for both private and commercial providers. Also included are directories for surf spots, surf shops and surf schools, as well as an event calendar.
99WAVES acts as an intermediary and is not itself a party to the purchase agreements – these are concluded directly between buyer and seller.
What sports and categories are there?
You'll find equipment for Wingfoil, kitesurfing and windsurfing as well as Neoprene & Protection – from boards, wings, kites, sails and foils to accessories.
Do I need an account?
To buy and sell, you need a user account. Registration is open to adults with legal capacity. When registering, you must provide truthful information and keep it up to date.
Which countries do you ship to?
Shipping is handled by 99WAVES within the EU – Standard parcels are handled automatically, bulky items (e.g., boards) are handled by our team. Switzerland and other non-EU countries will follow later.
In which languages is 99WAVES available?
99WAVES is available in German and English. You can change the language using the language switcher in the top right corner. More languages will be added gradually.
How does 99WAVES keep my money safe?
Payment processing is handled in escrow via Stripe, a licensed e-money institution. 99WAVES itself is neither a payment service provider nor an insurer – funds are held by Stripe until the payout requirements are met. This ensures your payment is protected until the purchase is complete.
How do I delete my account?
You can cancel your account at any time via the "Delete account" function in your user account, as long as there are no pending transactions.
